Press Release for Hendy Farms
The WE-POWER Fund, a joint initiative of CEO Africa and WOCEN Women Climate Entrepreneurs, has made its first investment in Hendy Farms Limited, a women-led agribusiness based in Dodowa and co-founded by Sandra Snowden and Rita Brobey. The investment marks Hendy Farms’ first repayable growth capital, building years of hard work, product innovation and consistent business growth by the founders and their team.
Hendy Farms has grown from a family mango farm into a recognized climate-smart agribusiness producing fresh mangoes, frozen mango slices and puree, dried fruits, fruity mango pops, mango jams and hot sauces, honey, body butter and branded merchandise including hats, mugs and tote bags. The company also offers farm visit experiences, including mango farm experiences, private farm visits, mango harvest experiences, farm visits with BBQ lunch, as well as private labelling, contract manufacturing, wholesale and retail options.

The WE-POWER investment will support Hendy Farms to expand its facility and frozen fruit popsicle line through the installation of additional solar capacity, acquisition and installation of a filling machine, purchase of packaging materials, and temporary support for a new QA. This will help the company move from manual to more efficient production of the popsicles, increase output, improve quality assurance, reduce reliance on grid electricity, and expand sales into retail, hospitality and institutional channels.
“This first WE-POWER investment is significant for us because it goes to a business that already shows what women-led climate-smart enterprise can look like in practice,” said Susanne Roelofsen Afum, Managing Director of CEO Africa. “Sandra and Rita have built Hendy Farms with vision, persistence and strong roots in their community. Their use of solar drying, solar-powered production, local sourcing, and a waste-free mango model makes Hendy Farms a climate-smart leader. We are proud to work alongside them as they take this next step in growth.”

In addition to the loan, CEO Africa will provide technical assistance focused on market development and sales growth for the popsicle line, commission-based sales pilot, impact measurement, and follow-on investment readiness. Hendy Farms will also participate in WE-POWER peer learning sessions and regular business check-ins.
“This investment marks a pivotal moment for Hendy Farms. It allows us to do what we have always done, grow, process, and share the best of Ghana’s mango. We look forward to working closely with the CEO Africa team to take Hendy Farms to the next level.” said Sandra Snowden, CEO and Co-Founder of Hendy Farms.
People and organizations interested in purchasing Hendy Farms products, stocking the products in retail outlets, organizing farm tours for teams or schools, exploring private labelling, or discussing other partnership ideas can reach out directly to Hendy Farms or CEO Africa.
